Robert Wood, a ROSS Senior Associate, has almost four decades of experience in media and communications.
Before joining ROSS, Mr. Wood served six years as Communications Director at the Texas Association of Business.
Before that, he covered politics and the Legislature for the Texas State Network and CBS Radio from 1994 to 2011 and traveled extensively during the George W. Bush for President campaign in 1999-2000. He also covered political conventions and breaking news including hurricanes, major trials, and other events that shaped the state. He has interviewed countless individuals, from U.S. presidents to celebrities to death row inmates.
Mr. Wood came to Austin in 1990 to host the morning show on KLBJ-AM radio, and before that spent a decade on San Antonio radio as a reporter, editor and news director. He began his radio career as a big band disc-jockey on KGNB-AM radio in New Braunfels in 1982.
He was awarded Best Newscast in Texas twice from the Associated Press and once from United Press International, and he received a Lone Star award from the Houston Press Club.
Mr. Wood has hosted the Battle of Flowers Band Festival in San Antonio as part of Fiesta Week for more than 30 years. While at Texas State Network, he was the radio representative on the Secretary of State’s Election Advisory Board from 1995 to 2011, serving as Vice Chairman for four years.
